In recent years, eggs have gotten a bad wrap. Many people don't consume eggs on a regular basis because of health concerns. With organic eggs many of those are negated and although it's not advisable to consume any types of eggs on a daily basis, with organic eggs you can eat a few a week without any concern.

The differences between traditional eggs and organic eggs are important to note. Organic eggs come from hens that are treated in a different way than has traditionally been the case.

Organic hens are:

* Not kept in cages. Traditionally farmers would keep hens in cages and they were expected to lay eggs in these cages. This was a very controlled environment and many people believe that it affected the hens which in turn affected the taste and quality of the eggs.

* Not fed any grains that contain preservatives. Organic hens are given the very best organic foods. In addition they are not treated with any medications or growth hormones. This directly changes the taste of the eggs and ensures that the eggs are also chemical free.

* Fed grain that is rich in Omega-3. Omega-3 is essential for a person to live a healthy life. It's believed that a high level of Omega-3 in the diet can reduce the risk of many types of health conditions including obesity and diabetes. When you consume organic eggs you can rest assured that you are also eating a food that is rich in Omega-3.

Purchasing organic eggs can be done at many neighborhood supermarkets. You'll notice that the price of the eggs is slightly higher than what you'd expect to pay for a dozen regular eggs. You can use the organic eggs in any manner that you'd use a traditional egg for. This includes poaching, hard or soft boiling and baking. Imagine a cake made with organic flour, eggs and milk? This allows a person to eat a sweet treat without having to worry over the health impact.

If you can't find organic eggs in your corner grocery store, don't despair. Many specialty food stores will sell them in packages of 6 or 12. You can buy the quantity that you need along with a few organic fruits, vegetables or meats while you are there. You'll appreciate the quality and the taste of the organic foods. Try some organic eggs today and you'll instantly taste the difference.
