Performing The Gift Of Hypnosis
Have you ever been told that you have a calming way about you? Has anyone ever said that you seem to understand people and make them feel as if they want to be a better person? If so, you might possibly be someone with a natural gift that could be used in the area of hypnosis. Some people become exceptional hypnotists or hypnotherapist through years of study while other people simply have a gift, something natural. If you enjoy helping people, then perhaps you should consider the art of hypnosis, which can enhance people's lives in hundreds of ways
Performing hypnosis is not necessarily difficult but it must be done correctly. Because of this, people go to great lengths to learn through school, mentors, and hands-on experience. If you plan to use hypnosis as a therapeutic tool, motivating people and helping them overcome life's challenges then you must obtain hands-on training, probably the most important aspect of hypnosis. Remember, people will be coming to you with trust, believing you will help. Therefore, you have a great responsibility to take the hypnosis seriously and understanding its power. Otherwise, you could have an individual leave with a bad experience and never again trust that hypnosis can be beneficial.
Keep in mind that unfortunately, hypnosis does not work for everyone, although it could. The person on the receiving end must be open to suggestion for change, meaning if his or her mind is closed, then the goal will probably not be achieved. Some people are resistant to change and most often, hypnosis fails because of the person being hypnotized. However, the opportunity of helping someone is much greater than not, as long as you understand the various techniques and disciplines associated with hypnosis. Just as with anything, a technique is not a "one size fits all". Think of the child being potty trained in that each child has his or her own needs that must be addressed individually. The same is true with hypnosis.
When learning to hypnotize someone, there has to be a level of trust and respect between you and the individual. The bottom line is that you could attend a seminar and be deemed ready to hypnotize in just five days. That is frightening and irresponsible. Hypnotherapists actually take 200 hours of schooling to learn about inductions, suggestions, and disciplines so they are successful. After all, you will be taking people's problems into your hands so you need to know exactly how to deal with a multitude of situations, something you cannot learn in just five days.
Today, we see a number of hypnotherapists who are in the profession but only having completed a certification course, not being certified. As a professionally, you are required to live up to high standards for both moral and legal reasons. You need to view hypnotherapy as a profession, not just a job or technique. Even if you have a natural gift, look at that as a bonus, something that can enhance your practice. You still need adequate training for the sake of your client. With this training and your gift, just imagine the great things you can do for people!
With hypnotherapy, you are working with people to help them change behaviors and habits that are controlled by the subconscious mind. When a couple goes to marriage counseling, this is cognitive therapy, which means the marital issues are being addressed at a cognitive level. Obviously, this type of therapy is important and needed. However, cognitive therapy can then be coupled with hypnosis, which works on the underlying issues that must be changed for the marriage to be saved. As you can see, having a hypnotherapy practice means you will likely be working with other professionals so you too need to have a positive reputation.
Keep in mind that as a hypnotherapist, you will not be licensed to diagnose anyone, simply work on the problem being presented. Going into the realm of diagnoses is a dangerous game that could have ill effects on the client and legal ramifications for you. Instead, you are using your gift and your training to ask the client's subconscious mind to disclose the cause of the problem, which can then be addressed and corrected. Hypnosis is an exciting field, one that offers millions of people around the world relief from one thing or another. If you have a gift, we recommend you complete the appropriate education so you can succeed in helping other people succeed.
