Self Hypnosis is an art and every art has to be practiced properly with all the important steps in their proper order. A mastery over this art brings about worthy changes in your life, right from changing your habits to managing the stress or improving one's performance to achieve his goals. The primary role in using the self hypnosis techniques is goal-setting as it assures you for getting wonderful results. The different techniques for self hypnosis are:

1. Progressive Relaxation- This includes to work progressively throughout the body tense the body parts, hence providing relaxation to the body. You can vary this technique by working throughout the body giving suggestions yourself to relax them.

2. Eye Fixation- It is a visual mantra that allows focusing your attention on a particular object or a spot. As you start focusing on that particular object, your mind gets completely absorbed in that object. And then you can give suggestions for relaxation to your unconscious mind.

3. Indirect Language- Here suggestions and requests are given indirectly to the mind for guiding the internal representations for relaxing them.

4. Guided Imagery- In this technique, you have to focus your attention on images. A number of images are used for guiding you to the trance. Here not only visual images are used, but also other representation systems are also used.

5. Using dreams- In this technique, first you have to use some other method for guiding you to enter in the state of trance. Then guide yourself to a dream, where you can solve your problem, make some inventions or open up some new and useful information.

6. The Direct Language Method- A specified direct language is used for commanding you to have a specific experience. For e.g. you may say that my eyelids are becoming heavy and as the subject experiences the heaviness, he shall want to close them.

7. With Music- Select a music that may make you feels engrossed, calm or absorbed. When the music starts, use some other technique to assist you to the proper trance state. The music can be used by you ton reach your goals.
